Happy Valentine's Day! ❤️

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

It has been busy at Lemondrop since our last blog. We have been busy cleaning up the scraps (still) from Hurricane Michael, collecting and burning the branches and wood that have been sitting in piles for over a year, and discarding things that were ruined in storage and never sorted through. Phew. It's been a lot of work

Stoney and Tico have become quite the pair. She has been working very hard to try and get this sweet old man to cuddle and groom her... no dice yet, but they have begun sharing their fruit treats in the morning. This is a huge step, as prior to Stoney arriving, Tico wouldn't even eat fresh fruit. Now she eats it AND shares it with him. Maybe by Valentine's day, she will convince him that cuddling is a good thing. Who knows!

A few weeks ago we took in Bunny. This little guy was in need of an emergency home, all the other rescues said they couldn’t take him, and we were his last stop before being euthanized. We were happy to take him in and bring him into the Lemondrop family. He’s a very sweet 5 year old lop. Extremely calm and loving. We took him straight to Lakeside Grooming, so that he could have a flea bath and his nails trimmed. They did an amazing job taking care of him, and now he looks like a new bunny! ❤️🐰 He is doing very well so far. The fleas are now totally gone, and he is starting to fill out. When we first took him, he showed almost pre-diabetic type symptoms. Apparently rabbit diabetes is incredibly rare, to the point that little to no research has been done on it. We now have him on a very strict diet, and the symptoms are slowly waning. Which is excellent news! We are hopeful that with the proper diet and careful monitoring that all his symptoms will soon be gone.

(By the way - We highly recommend Lakeside for all your dog - or bunny - grooming needs. Rose and her staff do an incredible job, and their prices are unbeaten in the Tallahassee area.)

We want to send out a huge thank you to Jaime, Joe, Jerry, Jeff, and Robert for their generous donations of dog toys, bird food, bedding, rabbit food and blankets this month! They were all put to good use and very much needed.

If you would like to donate something that the animals need, please check out our AmazonWishlist! We are most in need of All Stock or Sweet Feed and Rabbit Food currently.

You can also add Lemondrop as your charity on AmazonSmile, and they will donate a portion of every sale to us (and it won't cost you anything!).

Remember to follow Lemondrop on Facebook for up to the minute news about all types of animals, and daily updates about all of Lemondrop's Resident Animals and programs.

Also a huge thank you to our consistent and amazing volunteers: David, Grea, Erika and Justin - who every week give of themselves to make sure that our programs are a success.
