These two lovely ladies were forgotten at what was once an old goat farm-turned apartment complex in Tallahassee. When the farm was shut down, all the goats and donkeys were sold and loaded to be taken to a new farm. But Shadow and her baby refused to be loaded. Instead of taking the time to try and load her, they closed the gate and left them there.

Lemondrop was called in to help after being given a tip that there were abandoned donkeys behind the apartments. The pasture was many acres, and they were extremely shy of people at first. It took four months of bringing them food and water to earn their trust enough to pen them into a smaller space.

After two days of work, they were finally loaded into the trailer and were brought to the sanctuary where they have been happily living since 2013.
