Seasons Greetings!

Greetings everyone!

I hope the holiday rush between Thanksgiving and Christmas finds you happy and enjoying the time with your friends and family.

Everyone here at Lemondrop is well, preparing for the cooler weather and enjoying the foggy misty mornings. We are in the middle of upgrading our pig and bird pens, getting all of them settled in and happy before the cold nights come.

We talk about the farm animals so much, we hardly take time to mention our canine residents. Here are two; Teddy and Louie, both are in their long winter underwear and already excited to see what Santa will leave in their stocking!

Last July 2016, we found Teddy running down the street two days after the 4th. He was dirty and had bare spots where his fur used to be, and was so hot and dehydrated that he nearly collapsed when we stopped to pick him up. We took him in and worked to rehab him as we searched for his previous owner. Clearly he had been loved, he was well trained and knew exactly what a bed was, but no one ever claimed him, so Teddy became one of our permanent residents. He's sometimes a grumpy old man, but we love him just the same.

Louie was found this year, on July 4th, running down a street much as Teddy had been. We found him after dark as the fireworks were in full swing. He was disoriented and could hardly see or hear with all the matts of fur on his face and in his ears. We picked him up and immediately got him groomed and checked out, he was less five pounds when we first got him and you could count every bone in his body, and currently weighs 12, but he still has a pound or two to go!  We couldn't find anyone who had lost a sweet little man, and the doctor estimated that he had been on his own for over a year.

These two sweet little men are bed buddies now and are living happy and safe at the sanctuary.

If you find that you have a little extra this holiday season, please consider donating toward our vital work. Until we get a new donor client (we've been having issues with checks through JustGive), please send donations to PO Box 2372 Havana, Fl 32333.

Merry Christmas!
