September again!
Greetings everyone. So sorry that we haven't been blogging, we have been so busy with starting up new programs to get donations directly to people in need. (Photos of all our current work along with animal pics are on our Facebook page). Then there was the week of prep work for Ian at the Sanctuary, which thankfully was unnecessary. We are short $450 for the month.
Cut to the chase, we are in dire straights monetarily. We need $2k monthly to run smoothly. Since COVID we've been existing on $1k monthly. This month is far less. 2021 gross donations were $13k. We've lost all of our major (local) stores that gave us small grants, and several of our individual donors. We need immediate monetary help and help with necessary supplies. Gallons of white vinegar, big bags of Eason salt, 32oz bottles of peroxide, laundry detergent, zip ties for temporary fencing repairs, boxes of borax, bags of baking soda. Biggest challenge is cash for gasoline, supplies and food/feed. Anything will help. Please consider donating now, and becoming a monthly sponsor.
We cannot keep running at a deficit and remain operational. One of our Volunteers has been giving us part of her meager retirement to fill in the gaps, but she has to pay her own bills. We must be able to survive.

Struggles aside, Lemondrop is reaching more people than we ever have. We began a new Wishlist program through Lemondrop Community Outreach last month, and were able to get urgently needed items directly to people who needed them. That's in addition to all the food and household items we already distribute en masse in our local communities (reaching an estimated 1000 local people weekly).
The animals at the Sanctuary are all doing very well. We are all so grateful for the cooler weather. The abrupt weather shift has enabled us to do additional rehab outdoors to some of our animal pens and structures that we couldn't do in the extreme heat. We desperately need our front pasture fence replaced, and had been replacing a single panel at a time prior to covid. But now we can't afford fencing, so we are doing our best to extend the life of the deteriorating fencing just a little more.
We have had several supporters contact us asking if we can help with litters of kittens. Since we are both at 100% capacity, and strapped financially, we cannot take them. But, if you or anyone you know is looking for a kitten to love, please contact us.
Thank you all for you continued love and care. There is a core group of Lemondrop supporters who are always there for us, always read, like, volunteer and donate. We love you. You're the heartbeat of Lemondrop. ❤️
