Leia & Jackson have forever homes!
Whew! So much has happened this last couple weeks since our last blog.
Two of the small babies that our supporter Virgina asked us to find homes for, have found their forever homes! Leia (Pippa) and Jackson (Max) went to their new familes, and oh my gosh are they happy.
Jackson was adopted by one of our long time volunteers and dedicated supporters, Jackson has joined his other two cheweenie babies who are in their late teens, as the newest and youngest member of the family.
Leia had one of the most successful home visits that we have ever seen, she instantly fell in love and began to play with her new sister Willow (also a rescue). She is quite the princess and although we miss having her with us at the farm -- I don't think she is missing us all that much!
Luke seems to be growing a mile a minute. He is now larger than all of our canine residents except for the largest (an American bull mix). We are transitioning him outdoors so he can eat the fresh green grass that is growing in all the pastures. He tends to enjoy the rose leaves and aloe plant more than the grass, and is constantly trying to sneak inside to jump up on the chairs and couch. Luke has also figured out how to open the baby gate we have over the door, to let the dogs outside into their acre pasture that is fenced especially for them. When they go racing out the door, he is bounding and leaping along right beside them. He was feeling a bit bashful today and didn't want to look up at the camera, but you can see how his horns are growing in already.
As promised there's more of the birds in their new pasture. Most of them came out blurry, as they're always running and flapping around, this was the best one we could get. Today when I was spending time with the birds, I found their secret nest where the girls have been hiding all their eggs. There were over two dozen in the one nest, the sneaky little girls have been holding out on us! They were hidden in the loft of the bird barn.
We had some catnip donated this past week, it had been some time since our resident kitties had any, so we gave them a little from the package. Oh my goodness, they had so much fun! The black kitty is Raven, he was rolling around in the little file of catnip (that's what is all over him and the floor), and Miss Kitty began rubbing herself on everything she could find. Sufficed to say, they enjoyed it!
Lemondrop's Community Outreach program is expanding by leaps and bounds. We have an amazing team of volunteers that go out into homeless camps and bring food directly to the people who need it most. The people are so grateful for the food, often times there are tears of joy. We estimate that we are reaching 50 homeless each week with this one team of volunteers alone. Because our outreach is expanding, we are now in need of a box truck to pick up and deliver donations and food. If you know of anyone who has a box truck they are looking to donate and get a tax write off for, or if you would like to donate towards the purchase of one, please contact us directly.
As a grassroots nonprofit, we are always in need of support from the community. Please consider sponsoring one of our residents or becoming a monthly donor. All donations go directly into our programs, for the animals and towards our vital work. Check out our GuideStar profile page for more detailed financial information and to see our Platinum transparency rating. If you want to donate now please use to PayPal donate button at the top of the screen. Thank you!
As always a huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers and supporters; Toree, David, Star, Wyatt, Dottie, Maria, Jamie & family. We couldn't continue our vital work without your support and love. Thank you.
