Lemondrop News - Top Rated 2018 and more!

There's been a lot of changes this last week or two at Lemondrop.

First the good news: Lemondrop has been awarded the 2018 Top Rated status from GreatNonprofits! This is a huge accreditation for us and our second year in receiving this award, and we are so grateful to everyone who left us a review. Thank you!

Our donations/funding has been severely low this month - about a third or less in the last 45 days or so than we normally receive this time of the year. The small grants and local funding we were supposed to get to fund both the box truck and to replace the equine and sheep/goat shelter that was destroyed in Hurricane Irma last year, never came through. Which has forced us into a difficult position, as we do not have appropriate shelter for the larger animals if and when a hurricane or tropical storm does come close to us again.

We have had to make some very difficult decisions, and have come to the conclusion that if we can't provide the best possible care (shelter) for the equine in our care, that we will have to put them up for adoption to find them a family who can. If you know anyone who is looking for a donkey as a pet or a livestock guardian, please share our contact information - I will be uploading their bio's to our adopt page as soon as possible.
