Happy Mother's Day - Puppies are here!

Greetings everyone! There is just so much to talk about in this blog, it has been an extremely busy week or two. The very first thing that I want to talk about is the puppies (because who doesn't love puppies?).

There are 10 puppies that will be ready to be placed this weekend at our adoption event. They are mixed breed, so we aren't really sure what they are. One looks like a hound, a couple others look like tiny shepherds, another couple look like labs -- so its anyone's guess. They will be small though, we estimate no more than 40lbs (On the very high side), although we think they'll be closer to 20. Their mother was small, about 18lbs when she gave birth, but she was a bit underweight and needed some rehab and fattening up (she's doing much better, still gaining post-baby weight). All are weaned and eating dog dry with a little milk in it. They have been given their initial shots, been wormed, flea dipped, are very well socialized with both dogs and humans. They are crate trained, somewhat puppy pad trained and we are working on potty training them which is harder than it sounds with 10 babies! Full pictures and descriptions of each of them will be available at our adoption event this weekend. You will also get to meet with them in person. But as a teaser, here are a few pics of the lovelies to tide over your puppy fever. These were taken after their bath, they were spending a little time in the grass in our outdoor special puppy playpen.

Before I forget! We need volunteers to help this weekend both with our puppies and at our second event. If you have a couple free hours to just sit and hang out with us, we would so appreciate it! Shoot us an email for more information.

This week has been so busy with so many things...

Firstly we received just enough to get the box truck that we so desperately needed. Thank you so much! Unfortunately the truck that we had arranged to purchase wasn't in the drive-able condition that the man said it was, so we didn't end up taking it. If you know anyone who has a small box truck (that is drive-able and safe) and would be willing to donate, please let us know!

Last Friday, we happened to pass by as a homeless man was beating a puppy with a switch and she was screaming. We stopped and immediately intervened, offering the man the cash we had for the puppy (happened to be $36), he accepted our offer. She has been adopted already by one of our Board Members, who named her Emmy, she is an unknown large breed puppy. She needed a bath, worming, and got all of her shots done the next day. Very calm and very sweet. We are so happy that we were able to step in and prevent her from staying in an abusive situation.

From all of us at Lemondrop, we want to send out a huge HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of our supporters who are moms, grandmom's, or furry mom's, no matter the form of your baby - the love you feel is the same.

Another most deeply felt thank you to our supporters; Patricia, Cynthia, Maria, David, Esther, Star, Robert, Tim, Justin and Jamie. Each of you is part of the heart of Lemondrop, your love and support means more than you know. Thank you.
