Busy May Days!

Hello everyone! We hope this blog finds you happy, safe and healthy during this crazy time.

We have been incredibly busy at the Sanctuary! Last month one of our long term supporters, Maria, gave us a donation that enabled us to finally replace the chicken and rabbit barns that were destroyed by hurricane Michael. We are so incredibly grateful for her kindness and generosity to us. Melissa at Home Depot helped us get the shelters we so desperately needed, she and her team were so helpful and kind, they helped us load and gave us awesome suggestions on how to structure the new barns. We spent the last two weeks of quarantine putting together the buildings, and getting the area ready for the pens to be built. Saturday we spent the day with out friends and volunteers; Joe, Jerry, Johnny, Vincent and Chris, who helped us with the last few pieces and began putting together the structure for the outdoor portion of the pens. It's starting to look amazing! Even the bunny area we had before wasn't so well designed. We are so excited to get them into their new beautiful pen, and out of the cages they've had to occupy since the hurricane.

It was an amazing day. We had so much fun spending time with everyone who came out to help. Joe and Jerry came out to help build the framework for the rabbit pen, and got to see their little old Stoney man. It was a lovely reunion. Stoney showed them his new lady partner Tico (the sweet young Sun conure), he seemed very proud to show her off to his former family!

Some additional adorable pics of Jack and the duck girls trying to join us for lunch.

Huge thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated and helped us! We are so grateful for your generosity and kindness. Jaime, Maria, Gwen, Amanda, Suzanne, Angie, Lisa, Andrea, Pamela, Dana, Robert, Janice, Christy. Also Joe, Jerry, Jeff, Johnny, Vincent, Chris and Melissa (we wouldn't have gotten the new beautiful shelters ready without you!) -- and anyone we may have missed! We couldn't keep doing the vital work we do without you. Thank you.

This week we need just a few things: 3 bags of parakeet food from Amazon and 3-4 bags of all-stock feed. After comparing, its considerably cheaper to buy the All-Stock from Tractor Supply, and have it held at the Tallahassee location where we can pick it up. If you support the work we do please consider becoming a monthly donor via PayPal. Even $5 per month, means SO much toward the goal. All donations go directly toward caring for the animals.

Separately, we are in need of a sewing machine. We try and get as much life as possible out of the dog blankets, towels and such that we get donated. A sewing machine will help us extend the life of donated items. If you have an old sewing machine that you don't want/need anymore, we would be happy to put it to good use!

We've been posting about the animals on our Facebook, so if you haven't already, please make sure that you follow us on Facebook for up to the minute updates!
