July Showers

Greetings Lemondrop family!

Hope you are all safe (dry) and happy, despite the near constant rain and soggy weather we have been having the last few weeks. While the ducks and geese have been thoroughly enjoying themselves, we (the Volunteers) have not been enjoying it quite as much. All the rain has made normal daily farm chores like mowing and cleaning out the barns much more difficult. Especially when the ducks seem to think its funny to go from taking a mud bath in the rain, and then go jump into the clean dry hay bedding in the barn.

Ce la vie.

Aaanyway. Despite the challenges of rain, we have been plodding steadily forward. We are preparing to move our flock which is hovering around 50, into a new barn and pen that we are working on rehabbing. The barn is actually an old stock trailer, which we have moved to the bird pasture. It will give them about three times the space they currently have in their small barn, plus it has vents in the top for the hot summer days/nights, and a storage room for their fresh bedding and food bins. There's still work to be done on the trailer, it needs a couple doors replaced and to be painted, but it's progress. The current bird barn will be shifted to a new and improved isolation pen, for new intake bird residents. Which has been sorely needed. The old one was supposed to be temporary only until we built something better, and is too small for a two week isolation.

(These are just a few of the donations that we have passed out in the last two weeks.)

The Community Outreach is going fantastic! We estimate that we are now reaching over 1000 people each week through the different channels by which we distribute food. This number will likely increase as inflation rises, and more people struggle to be able to purchase groceries and household necessities. We are planning to begin to ship excess donations to Betsy, an elderly woman who similarly provides food and necessities to the local Navajo nation in Arizona.

She's been doing this work for around 30 years.

A couple weeks ago we announced on our Facebook that we will be moving toward doing Community Outreach to local children in need. We plan to distribute packets to children of struggling and in need families. Each packet will (hopefully) contain a small pamphlet of comics, a wholesome child themed DVD, a small toy or plush, and a book. We are still working on bringing in some of the donations for the packets. If anyone is interested in helping put together the packets, distributing and/or requesting donations from local businesses -- please contact us by email @ lemondropproductionsinc.nonprofit@riseup.net

As of today, for our July 2021 Operational expenses we are at 22% of our monthly goal.

This indicates that we may not make our mandatory operational expenses goal, which are the absolute minimum that we need to continue our work for both the Sanctuary and the Community Outreach. If you would like to partner with Lemondrop and the work we do to serve both people and animals, please consider signing up as a $5 per month sponsor @ PayPal.me/LemondropNonprofit !

If all of our subscribers donated just $5 a month, we would be able to meet our monthly operational expenses goal! Please share and encourage those you know to help support our vital on the ground work in the local communities!

Every single dollar helps us, and goes directly toward our programs.

All of our Volunteers and Board of Directors are 100% unpaid.
