Love is in the eyes
Meet some of our residents!
Harley was accepted at our California location shortly after Lemondrop formed. Previously he had been with a family who had rescued him from a bad situation. He was then transferred when Lemondrops headquarters moved here to Florida. He is a wonderful boy, who loves belly rubs and sweet treats.
Benjamin was one of our first arrivals here after our Florida location opened. He was unwanted by a local farm, because he was too old to slaughter, and had been fixed so he was of no use for breeding. Here at Lemondrop, we were happy to add him to our family! Where he has value as a living being. He has been happy here with us, and has slowly grown to trust our Volunteers and enjoy being hand fed and maybe the occasional pet.
Lace is an older albino parakeet. She was taken in from a home where she was loved, but her owner really didn’t know much about bird care. She was frequently exposed to marijuana smoke (deadly for a bird). We watch her for long term effects on her lungs, but she’s been with us for 2+ years and is very happy with her bird family!
Many of you know Tico, our sun conure. Who was found in a yard after a hurricane. She was Stoney’s (our 34 year old blue crown conure resident who passed last year) first mate, and has now attached to our green cheek conure Zephyr since Stoney passed. He absolutely adores her, and was the perfect match to help keep Tico out of depression after Stoney’s passing.
All of these animals would have met very different fates had they not been taken in by Lemondrop. The work we do is so vital. Which is why we need you to sponsor our Sanctuary by pledging to donate $5 per month @ PayPal.me/LemondropNonprofit
It is only with your help that we can continue the work we do, to feed, provide and love these beautiful rescued animals for the duration of their life.
We are still in need of volunteers for both our CA and FL food distribution programs, please email us for more information.
Thank you to all of our sponsors, regular donors, supporters and volunteers who work so hard every week to help Lemondrop. We love you!
